Earth Day Coalition Environmental History:

The Earth Day Coalition was established in 1990 for the 20th Earth Day anniversary in the US state of Ohio. The 1st Earth Day Coalition office had a limited budget, two employees and many local volunteers. The Earth Day Coalition held its first even in 1990, the EarthFest, hosting green and environmental exhibits from sponsors/businesses/schools/agencies and Ohio organisations. About 38,000 attended, but since then around 50,000 celebrate its environmental advocacy annually. The Earth Day Coalition EarthFest focuses on environmental leadership, green education, pollution prevention, energy conservation, energy efficiency and solid waste recycling.

The Earth Day Coalition environmental mission provides encouraging go green actions for a healthy type of environment, inspiring green environmental leadership and giving environmental and going green education to people across the world.

Current and Future Environmental Earth Day Coalition Projects

The Earth Day Coalition has four environmental programs, including clean transportation, EarthFest, the Student Environmental Congress and the Sustainable Cleveland Partnership or SCP. Its transportation program provides environmental/green education regarding airborne emissions reduction, reducing foreign oil dependency, green technologies, green practices and green fuels and the Clean Vehicle Exhibit at the EarthFest. The Earth Day Coalition EarthFest is held each April, exhibiting green kids' activities, environmental science, green foods, environmentally friendly/go green home improvements and environmentally friendly fuels. The Earth Day Coalition Student Environmental Congress educates school students about green. The Earth Day Coalition Sustainable Cleveland Partnership focuses on local environmental type protection, green air, green water supplies, environmental type audits, environmental risks (reduction/regulations), environmental laws, pollution prevention and sustainable living in local minority and low-income communities. Other Earth Day Coalition green/environmental events include: art/poetry/essay contests; Walk or Bike for the Earth; Environmental Justice; Mercury and Fish Consumption; the Nature Preserve at Dike 14; and Air Pollution-Diesel Reduction.

Earth Day Coalition Environmental Governance/Structure/Size:

Earth Day Coalition is an independent/local Ohio/national/environmental/non-profit organization that has numerous local and national US supporters. Earth Day Coalition offices are located in Ohio City's Cleveland historic neighborhood, across from the Cleveland Environmental Center. The office has only 6 employees and up to 6 interns per year, but many more local volunteers. The Earth Day Coalition receives environmental/green grants from local and national members/private and corporate donations/the US Department of Energy/the US Environmental Protection Agency/the Ohio Department of Development/the Earth Day Network/the Starbucks Foundation/the National Wildlife Federation/The Sullivan Family Foundation/The Staples Foundation/The Kelvin and Eleanor Smith Foundation/The 1525 Foundation/The Sears-Swetland Family Foundation/The George Gund Foundation/The Dominion Foundation and the Cleveland Foundation.
