Recycling Lives grew from a small scrap metal firm based in Leyland. The 40 plus years of experience in dealing with scrap metal is the backbone of Recycling Lives and provides a key commercial business.
Formed in 2008 by Preston-based entrepreneur Steven Jackson, along with his uncle Charles Jackson, the Recycling Lives charity has quickly established itself as an innovative, unique and working solution to a number of national issues.
In 2009, the first Recycling Lives centre opened in Deepdale, Preston. The centre provides accommodation and facilities to the Residents, holds the companies’ accounting and marketing headquarters, and provides a valuable community resource to local people.
Focus of Activities
Recycling Lives tackle national issues such as homelessness, worklessness, educational disadvantage and welfare dependency.
People come to us who are looking to turn their lives around- Recycling Lives is a proactive solution that seeks to tackle the causes of these problems and help people live and independent life.
Our residential programme offers secure and comfortable accommodation, food, warmth and support. We help our Residents to get back on their feet by working with them to build confidence, self-respect and a solid work ethic. We provide education, training and work experience, helping our Residents to improve their employability and to prove to themselves – and others – that they are valuable, productive members of the community. Residents can stay with us for up to two years, and we always aim to find them full-time employment, either with Recycling Lives or one of our corporate partners.
