About Us

The Soil and Water Conservation Society (SWCS) is a nonprofit scientific and educational organization that serves as an advocate for conservation professionals and for science based conservation practices, programs, and policy.

The Empire State Chapter of the Soil and Water Conservation Society is the New York branch of the Soil and Water Conservation Society. As a nonprofit organization, we are involved in scientific research and educational outreach. We work with academics institutions, landowners, communities and government bodies to achieve the following objectives:

    * Enhance the environment
    * Promote and advance the science of good land use, water use and management
    * Promote the conservation of all natural resources
    * Provide a medium of exchange for facts, experience, and thought
    * Represent, advance, and protect the standards of the science of resource management and conservation
