It's important to stay on top of information that can and does affect you every day. The Earth's environment is a problem that affects every one each and every day. If you are unaware about the problem, how can you take steps to solve it? It's important to take time out of your day to do some research about the ongoing problem that faces the generations of yesterday, today and the future. Remember knowledge is key to solving the ongoing damage to the basic green environment.

If you are like most people, you are itching to get started on saving the environment. However, the biggest factor that affects the Earth is how people get around from place to place. Instead of solo driving to work, grocery stores or other places, consider taking the mass transit system, walk or bike to the places you have to be. Remember one of the precious resources is crude oil and using gasoline to fill up your tank every week can have a negative effect on the environment. One of the worst ways to get around (although if you want to get to the other side of the world, it's practically needed) is flying.

It wasn't until the price of crude oil skyrocketed that many people called for new energies to get the grip of oil/gas companies off people's wallets. More and more people are screaming for the creation of alternative energy. In some towns, there are windmills installed to power the grid. Some homes are built with solar panels to use the sun's rays to give light to a home. However, if you want to go basic green, you don't have go another energy route. Instead, turn lights off that do not need to be used. When light bulbs go out, replace them with energy efficient light bulbs such as LEDs. Buy appliances with the basic green Energy Star logo.

How can you conserve water? You already know of a couple of ways. They include turning off the bathroom sink when you brush your teeth and wash dishes by plugging up the drain on one side and filling it with Basic Green water. However, drinking water is a precious commodity. If you don't like tap water, you have to filter and purify it to drink. This takes energy to do. However, you can also save water by installing water-saving showerheads in your shower/tub and collecting rainwater that can be used in your garden. Always check your toilets to be sure there are no leaks and check on the underside of your home to make sure no standing water (coming from leaky pipes) is occurring.

Everyone needs to eat to survive. However, food has a tremendous impact on the Earth's ecosystem. If you are buying vegetables and fruits from a store, you are likely buying those that were sprayed with insecticides. If you want to join the go green, try purchasing organic foods or buy from a local farmers' market to get your vegetables and fruits. You can also reduce your meat consumption. Remember cows, pigs and chickens are often given hormones to boost their meat.

Going green isn't as simple as recycling any longer. However, the waste you have still makes a big impact on the environment. Remember everything you throw away had some kind of energy and/or resource to get the package to and from somewhere. Disposing of the item can go one of two ways: recycling or landfill. Determine what items can be recycled and what ones need to be disposed of. If you want to environmentally friendly, make compost out of your trash.

How can you make clothing be more environmentally friendly? First, purchase clothing that is made from organic cotton, bamboo, etc. Remember that cotton fields are likely to be sprayed with chemicals to ward off bugs. These pesticides cause great harm to the Earth and its resources. Purchase gently used clothing or clothing that was made from recycled products. There are all kinds of ways to go basic green in clothing.

Everyone wants to look and smell his or her best. However, their best also means an environmental impact from the water they use to get ready to the personal care products that affect their health and the environment. However, companies are taking notice of the go green movement and looking for alternatives that are better for the overall picture. Keep in mind the phrase... less is more especially when basic green living is involved.

So you think you have the basics down regarding the go green movement? Did you forget the chemicals that you have your home to clean with? That's right. Your dishwasher soap, your washer machine soap... anything and everything you use a cleaning product on will be doused with some nasty concoction the company put together. Instead, make your own cleaning product and go basic green natural.
