Electronic Health Records Are Good For The Environment

These days, everyone is trying to do their part to help the environment and reduce the amount of waste that they generate. If you're like many people, you probably try to avoid using paper as much as possible, and probably try to recycle it whenever you can. Did you ever notice that with every trip to the doctor's office, urgent care clinic, dentist or any other health facility, you're given a huge stack of forms to fill out? Have you ever wondered what happens to all of that paper? One thing's for sure: it's most likely ending up in landfills, and contributing to the unhealthy state of the environment.

Electronic Health Records: Reducing Waste

An exciting new technology that is becoming more and more popular in the medical community is electronic health records. Doctors and office personnel alike prefer electronic health records because they are much easier to read and can be transmitted in mere seconds. Rather than asking patients to constantly submit update forms and having to cart those forms from one office to another - or fax them from place to place - EHR can be sent wherever they're needed in the blink of an eye. From an environmental standpoint, electronic medical records are clear winners because they drastically reduce the amount of paper waste that health care facilities generate.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle - And Go EHR

More environmental activists are urging the medical community to switch over to electronic medical records than ever before because doing so would make a huge dent in the amount of paper waste that ends up in landfills every year. Rather than inconveniencing the staff and medical professionals at a health care facility by requiring them to use arduous recycling techniques, electronic health records actually make things easier for them. Those professionals are enthusiastically welcoming electronic health records with open arms since they're more legible and much easier to keep organized than their old fashioned paper predecessors.

Save The Environment - Use Electronic Health Records

By simply peeking behind the counter at any health care facility, you can quickly see that there is an overabundance of paperwork. All of that paper will eventually wind up in landfills, which is why electronic health records are such a smart idea. EHR softwares are catching on quite quickly, but they still have quite a ways to go. With any luck, those concerned with the environment and the health of the planet will continue to push for a complete conversion to electronic health records so that paper waste is greatly reduced in the world. Eventually, our planet will see dramatic - and very beneficial - results by doing that. Electronic health records are the future of the health of this planet.
