Genetically Modified

Genetic modification is especially prevalent in our food processes today. Genetic modification consists of manipulation, removing, or inserting new genes into a life form in order to improve or study it for various reasons. With most crops genetic modification is done to increase resistance to disease and to increase nutritional value. Several concerns exist about this practice though.

People worry about genetic pollution in wild populations and the loss of biodiversity if this were to happen. Ethical concerns about animals and their health related to genetic modification also exist. Though it is still a crude science with many against it, genetic engineering continues without much slowing it down.
