Green Hero Wear Sustainable fashion made from recycled firefighter hose

Used fire hoses, which would otherwise have landed in the bin, form the basis for the bags and accessories of the Cologne fashion label Feuerwear. The creative minds of this company combine unusual design and environmental consciousness in their products. “We call our products Green Hero Wear”, says Feuerwear founder Martin Klüsener. “ Because what has helped to fight fires and save lives is now fighting against enviromental pollution and save the enviroment”

Tough, sturdy material with individual stories

The bags and accessories are made of material which is really tough: high-tensile polyester yarn with a long-lasting synthetic rubber lining. It has proven its toughness and stability over many years of fire-fighting duty. Each hose was dragged through soot, grease and mud, despite extreme heat and fire, and had to transport many thousands of cubic meters of water. Naturally such a past leaves its own unique traces behind, and therefore every bag and every accessory made by Feuerwear is a one-of-a-kind piece. The fire hoses are hand picked, thoroughly scrubbed, cut to size and then stitched and finished by hand. This way, a disused product is given a new purpose – as eco-friendly bags, belts, wallets and organizers – and also helps the environment as their production does not make use of any precious virgin materials. And that is only one part of our commitment to the environment: all our products are shipped using the carbon neutral GoGreen service of DHL.

The Feuerwear product range meets every need: from messenger bags to wallets. The list of members in the Feuerwear product team – Scott, Hank, Bill & Co – sounds a lot like the names of the firefighters manning an American fire engine. The bags and accessories are available in over 80 select shops around the world and online at www.feuerwear.com.
