Hydroelectricity

Hydroelectricity comes from harnessing the flow of moving bodies of water such as rivers. These rivers and dammed, and the force of the water rushing through the dam turns enormous turbines which produce electricity.

Hydroelectricity is the most commonly used form of renewable energy, accounting for 19% of the world's electricity. It is also a fairly cheap form of electricity, cutting power bills for people who benefit from it. Dams are not favored by all however, who see their creation as detrimental to the local ecology, especially fish.
