Land Degradation

Land degradation is the concept that land can be adversely affected by many human processes. These human processes include poor farming practices, overgrazing, clear cutting, urban conversion, and land pollution. One of the most drastic effects of land degradation is the loss of productivity in the soil, making it unfit to grow crops for human consumption.

Soil erosion, soil acidification, and salination are all issues that arise from human misuse of the land. In turn, food supplies suffer while the human population grows exponentially.
