Solar Power

The greatest natural source of energy on our planet comes from the sun. In just one hour the sun beams down more energy than the whole planet used in the year 2002. Solar power comes from harnessing the radiation provided by the sun using photovoltaic cells.

The applications for solar energy are endless. Solar water heater provide warm water for swimming pools while solar ovens are used to cook food around the world. In developed countries companies have come out with solar roofing, which are photovoltaic cells covering a house's entire roof in order to create enough energy to supply the house's needs. Many homes in secluded areas use solar energy for electricity, and are "off the grid".
