Tribute to the King - Make That Change

With now confirmed reports pouring in that Michael Jackson (1958- 2009) haspassed away, caring for the environment will not be the only thing on people’sminds when local musicians showcase their talents at the Sunshine Coast World Environment Day Festival on June 28, 2009.

Among the program lineup will be young singer Rebel Lyons accompanied by Zandalee Clarke on keyboard and Jaia Conte on guitar, who had deliberately chosen a Michael Jackson classic to perform in their ’songs of change’segment on Main Stage around 11.20am.

Little did they realise their selection would end up being a dedicated tribute to a man who sang about ‘making that change’.

Jackson’s Man in the Mirror talks about how the individual can make a difference and by looking in the mirror and inside ourselves individuals can self-empower and unite to combat global crises, in a show of health, hunger and humanity.

This marries with the UN Theme of World Environment Day - ‘Your Planet Needs You -- Unite to Combat Climate Change’.

Let’s all take a leaf out of Michael Jackson’s book and the well penned lyrics - the trio says “we need to pay tribute to world leaders who have the leverage to alter global minds and move people towards caring for each other and the environment.”

Performing together for this first time the trio have their individual stories of how Jackson will not cease to inspire - Rebel classes him as her Idol; Zandalee recently immersed herself in his discography and Jaia said Jackson’s ‘Off the wall’ album was the first he ever bought.

As a life watched, universally and closely, in techniclour fades from our global screen the trio feel “The show must go on. They said his legacy remains in hismusic and just one song is enough to pay tribute and respect. May he rest in peace but his music and songs of change live on”.

In addition, he brought a broader pathway and opened up a wider vein for more musicians to come on board. As he has passed away, many people are looking for Neverland Ranch photos. Neverland Ranch photos are somewhat of a rarity, as few people entered the now dilapidated estate over the last few years, many of the most recent snapshots are all aerial photos. The ranch almost slipped into foreclosure, and was bought by Colony Capital, an investment firm, with Jackson still owning a stake, despite falling behind on the secured loans for the property. The debt concerning Neverland still has to be settled, and it's been made clear that Jackson won't be buried there. Secured loans may be needed to pay it off, and recent Neverland Ranch photos aren't much to look at.
