Wave Power

Wave power is a clean and renewable form of energy that generates electricity using the mechanical energy produced by the motion of waves. One of the ways people harness wave power is by placing buoys out in the ocean and transferring the energy of the up and down motion of the buoy into electricity.

One of the world's first "wave farms" has been built in Portugal, and another is in the works in Scotland. Some of the issues facing wave power technology include reducing costs to produce electricity and making buoys sturdy enough to resist storms and the corrosion of salt water.
